Mazur Manor: Makeshift Kitchen

Updated: Jul 13, 2019

We've had a rough go so far in our first few months of home ownership. We've experienced a wide variety of challenges, some of which would almost seem comical to watch in succession... if only we weren't the ones experiencing them.

It's like a Kansas country version of Money Pit over here!

We've been preparing meals out of our makeshift kitchen. We've got an electric skillet, courtesy of Caitlin Young, my old college roommate, and Jared Pierce, her man. Austin still had an electric burner from working on the road and trying to eat healthy. We had also picked up a fridge off of Craigslist for our private food in the basement while we were living at Laura's (Austin's mom), which functioned perfectly fine there, except for a broken light in the freezer.

I can't say I've been too friendly to the GINORMOUS spiders that take up residence in my mixing bowls. And no... this is not the only place I've found them. I killed three of those things in a row, each individually, each in the same dang mixing bowl. You'd think they'd notice their friends disappearing and take a hint. Guess not.

Austin, the genius he is, came up with a solution for the fridge door that wouldn't stay shut. It took a few times waking up in the morning and finding an open fridge, with water dripping down the walls, to figure out that the door wasn't sealing properly.

Nothing a bolt screwed into the top of the fridge can't fix!

End of summer addition...

Thank the Lord, we can finally cook again! No more searching for all the closest outlets for whatever appliances our meals require. No more blowing the fuse when we run the microwave at the same time as the burner.

Thank you to Austin for purchasing our brand new appliances with his paycheck from this last job. Now we have two fridges. :)
